The State Duma will discuss the introduction of new payments due to the lockdown

In December, Deputies of the State Duma intend to discuss with the government the possibility of introducing new social payments in connection with the introduction of restrictions due to the coronavirus.

Andrei Alekhin, a member of the Russian State Duma Committee on Labor and Social Policy, announced the plans of the deputies to raise the issue with the government about the introduction of new social payments due to the lockdown. According to URA.RU, the discussion is going to be held in December.

“At the last meeting, a proposal was made by those who are responsible for health care to devote a separate hour to this particular topic,” the deputy noted. Nikolai Kolomeitsev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor and Social Policy, announced the need to provide support to the population. According to him, "if the government stops something, it should provide citizens with food at least".

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the government has no plans to introduce new measures of social support due to the regime of non-working days. He added that Russia has a number of regular payments that are received by those in need.
