Gazprom refuses to increase gas transit through Ukraine

The Russian company has rejected an offer to sell more gas through the territory of the neighboring country.

According to Interfax, Gazprom has decided not to use the opportunity to book additional capacity to pump gas next month.

The publication reports that the Ukrainian GTS Operator auctioned off 63.7 million cubic meters per day. However, no bids for the capacity were received.

This means that the Russian side is left with 124 million cubic metres per day.

Gazprom pumped similar volumes (109 million, which are specified in the contract, as well as 14.2 million cubic metres extra) in February, March and April.

The additional fifteen million was bought at an auction held on 19 April.
