Rosaviation knows what they will do if the state support of air transportation in conditions of budget deficit stops. The head of the agency Alexander Neradko told RBC that an appropriate stress-scenario has been developed for this case.
Neradko did not disclose the details of the stress scenario, explaining that the topics related to air transportation are "too high-profile, almost like soccer and medicine".
Last year, a record amount of 174.2 billion rubles was allocated from the federal budget to support domestic transportation. This measure, as the head of the Ministry of Transport Vitaly Savelyev said at a meeting with Vladimir Putin in January, helped Russian airlines to transport about 95 million people in 2022. Even despite the closure of eleven southern airports.
Savelyev stressed that Russian airlines plan to carry a total of more than 101 million passengers in 2023. However, according to him, the Ministry of Transport is going to reduce the amount of subsidies in the current year, which may happen as a result of systematic work on the repurchase of imported aircraft from foreign lessors.
