In Moscow, the court recognized as legitimate the demand of the Federal Antimonopoly Service for a fine of 1.3 billion rubles for the online hotel booking service Booking.
The Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal upheld the decision on the fine of 1.3 billion rubles for the online hotel booking service Booking. Such demand was made by the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) due to the company's abuse of its dominant position in the Russian market.
At the end of August FAS found out that the service was imposing unfavorable contract terms on Russian hoteliers. They had no right to offer rooms at a lower price than on the aggregator's website. The antimonopoly inspectors issued a prescription demanding that this clause be removed from the contracts, but it was not fulfilled.
In August, Booking was fined 1.3 billion rubles. On November 11, 2021, the decision of the Arbitration Court was confirmed by the court of appeal, and then it came into force.
