Only two cars with internal combustion engines made the jury list.
The organizers of the Car of the Year 2023 award, held these days in Brussels, have named this year's seven finalists. Interestingly, five electric cars and only two models with internal combustion engines made the short list at once.
The Renault Austral and Peugeot 408 were chosen as the best traditional cars with internal combustion engines. As for electric cars, the finalists among them were the Nissan Ariya, Jeep Avenger, Kia Niro, Volkswagen ID. Buzz and the Subaru Solterra/Toyota bZ4X co-patterns.
The final results of the voting will be announced in Brussels on January 13, 2023. Dozens of journalists from different European countries will decide the fate of the best cars.
A total of 45 models competed for the final award.
This year, the electric car Kia EV6 was recognized as the best.
