Russian residents spent a record amount to buy new cars in December 2023. The amount totalled 384.7 billion roubles. For the entire history of observations, this is a record figure. The study "Otkrytie auto" was conducted by the analytical agency "Avtostat", wrote TASS.
Russians spent on new autos last month 17% more than in November 2023 and 2.6 times higher than in December-2022. The financial capacity of the Russian car market at the end of last year is estimated at 3.13 trillion rubles. Earlier, Russian residents spent the most money in 2021 (Br3.05 trillion).
At the same time, in December, almost eight times more was spent on mass-market cars than on premium ones. Chinese brands accounted for 67% of the total financial capacity of the car market. This is also a new record.
Used cars rose in price by 30% on average last year - to 1.57 million rubles in December 2023 from 1.21 million rubles at the beginning of that year, Izvestia wrote.
A three-year premium car with mileage cost an average of 6.9 million rubles.
