Volkswagen has unveiled the new generation of the Tiguan crossover, which has received an updated design as well as modernized powertrains. This compact SUV, which previously topped the rankings of the most popular crossovers in Russia, was last updated in 2020. Now Volkswagen has unveiled the third-generation model, which features sleeker design lines, a redesigned interior with a large screen and other modern features. Gasoline engines remain in the engine lineup, but improved hybrid variants are also introduced.

The new generation Volkswagen Tiguan attracts attention not only for its updated design, but also for its more efficient coefficient of aerodynamic drag, which has dropped from 0.33 to 0.28.

The new Tiguan has moved to the modern MQB Evo platform, which has increased its length by 32 millimeters and height by 5 millimeters, while other dimensions have remained unchanged. The trunk volume has increased by 37 liters and is now no less than 652 liters.

The interior of the Tiguan has also undergone major changes. With the third generation, the model received a 10.25-inch "dashboard" and a touchscreen multimedia screen with a diagonal of 12.9 or 15 inches, depending on the configuration. A projection display is also available.

The engine lineup includes gasoline engines with 204 and 265 horsepower, as well as diesel versions with 150 and 193 horsepower. Among the transmissions, a "robotized" gearbox is available. Also offered are "mild" hybrids with a 48-volt starter-generator and two PHEV units, one with 204 horsepower and the other with 272. Both are equipped with more powerful batteries that provide up to 100 kilometers of electric driving range. A choice of front- or all-wheel drive is also available.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan will start selling in Europe in 2024.

Recall that earlier GAZ signed a settlement agreement with Volkswagen and withdrew the claim for 15.6 billion rubles.
