In the country, the production of components was halted due to flooding.
Skoda has announced a temporary halt in car production due to problems with the logistics of components supplied by a partner plant from Slovenia, which has been affected by floods. Skoda spokeswoman Ivana Povolna confirmed this information and said that production at the plant in the village of Kvasiny, Czech Republic, will be suspended for at least a week. In addition, the company admitted that production at another plant in Mlada Boleslav, located in central Czech Republic, will also be affected.
Skoda's partner company, based in Slovenia, was supplying components for internal combustion engines. Ivana Povolna said that due to this situation, the company will increase the production of electric cars at its plants from 500 to 550 cars per day.
The head of the Skoda employees' union Jaroslav Povszyk also confirmed that the production cuts will affect all models of cars with internal combustion engines produced by the company.
In search of alternative solutions, Skoda is already considering the possibility of organizing the supply of necessary components from China, pending the improvement of the situation in Slovenia.
