A test batch of 25 cars will be released with it in December.
"AvtoVAZ" announced the restoration of production of 1.8 liter engines called 1.8 Evo. According to Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of Za Rulem magazine, the power of the new motor remains the same - 122 hp.
In December this year, AvtoVAZ will produce a small batch of 25 Lada Vesta cars with this engine and variator, intended for internal needs of the plant. After that, from the beginning of January, mass production of the engine will begin with a gradual increase in volume. It is planned that by the end of 2024 will begin production of cars with a 1.8-liter engine and a 6-speed manual transmission.
According to the expert, AvtoVAZ has managed to find new suppliers for many engine components, from injectors to the timing belt.
He also noted that the new motor has 25 new parts, including changes to the pistons, cylinder block and crankcase pan. Features include reinforced stiffening ribs and changes to the sump design to allow for an automatic transmission.
Among other innovations, he mentioned fuel injectors with increased performance by 30%, new larger diameter polyamide fuel pipes with variable cross-section, as well as a new cylinder head cover.
