Today in Russia you can buy a new LADA Vesta for about $14,000, while in Belarus you can get a used Ford Focus, Peugeot 308 or Renault Megane for the same money. Moreover, the assembly line of foreign cars is not more than four years old.

The low prices in Belarus for cars are common because of the decree № 140, due to which beneficiaries can get a 50% discount on customs clearance of cars from Europe. To enter Russia from Belarus it is necessary to pay the recycling fee and get an electronic title, as well as install GLONASS module.

For cars older than three years, the recycling fee is 5,200 rubles, regardless of engine size. You will have to pay another 15 thousand rubles for registration of an electronic title. After receiving the customs receipt, you need to register the car with the traffic police, and this whole process takes no more than a week.

For example, a five-year-old Honda Civic sedan will cost 1.2 million rubles, a 2016 Buick Regal will cost 950 thousand rubles, and a Volkswagen Golf electric car can cost 1.5 million rubles. However, prices for used European cars are on the rise in Belarus due to the influx of motorists from Russia. A few months ago, Renault Clio could be bought for $ 8,000, today it will cost $ 10,000.
