Chinese companies have become leaders in car imports to Russia in 2022.
Already by the end of this summer in the Russian Federation there was a tendency to conquer the domestic car market by Chinese companies. About two-thirds of the new cars that came to the country were from China, according to the latest data from the agency "Autostat". In this case the share of supplies from the previous leader - South Korea - was only 8.7% of imports, the third place went to Kazakhstan - 3.9%.
Thus, only in September Chery has become for all time a major foreign car, which sold 3,850 cars, although until then the leadership was held by KIA for many years.
At the same time, total sales of cars still remain a pale shadow of the past years. In the first nine months of 2022, 2.5 times fewer passenger cars were sold in the country than in the same period last year - 466,000 units in 2022, 1.1 million in 2021, according to the Association of European Businesses in Russia.
