Sales of electric cars in Russia have reached a new record.
According to Avtostat, the purchase of 2,499 electric cars was registered for March 2024, exceeding the previous record of December last year by more than 500 cars. The total number of electric cars sold in the first quarter amounted to 5,889, which is 3.6 times more than in the same period last year.
The leadership among electric cars in Russia still belongs to Zeekr, part of Geely Holding. It attracted the attention of 1,216 buyers, which is almost half of the market. Volkswagen took second place with 269 cars sold, Tesla follows in third with 152 sales, and Avatr and Evolute close the top five with 140 and 138 cars sold respectively.
The share of electric cars in the Russian market continues to grow, reaching 1.7 percent in March, while a year ago it was only one percent.
