ING Research predicts that the number of gas stations in Europe will shrink dramatically over the next five to ten years. Current gas station owners have been lucky so far, but upcoming changes could change that.
In 2022, the turnover of gas stations reached a historical maximum due to high fuel prices.
At the same time, ING Research presents a more pessimistic forecast for the future. Taking into account that it is planned to completely stop selling cars with internal combustion engines by 2035 and the practical disappearance of these cars by 2053, investments in gas stations become less attractive, because of which their number is bound to decrease.
This is reported by the edition 32cars.ru.
According to the forecast, in the next 5-10 years, half of the gas stations may disappear. Most of the closing stations are small and often unattended facilities that depend only on fuel sales.
