A unique specimen has appeared on the Russian automobile market - Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC, which once belonged to the legendary Secretary General of the CPSU Central Committee Leonid Brezhnev. According to information published by Motor.ru, the car was presented to Brezhnev as a token of respect from German Chancellor Willy Brandt in 1973. Instead of being added to the government fleet, the car was given to Igor Shchelokov - the son of the then head of the USSR Interior Ministry Nikolai Shchelokov.

Mercedes 450 SLC strikes with its impeccable condition. Its body is virtually unaffected by time, and the mileage is still low. A notable feature of the interior is the velour interior, which has not the slightest trace of wear and tear. In addition to its luxurious appearance, the car is equipped with a powerful 4.5-liter atmospheric eight-cylinder engine that produces a solid 225 horsepower. Gear shifting is accomplished through a three-speed hydromechanical automatic transmission.

One of the most unusual features of this Mercedes is that it retains the original Soviet license plates from 1958 with a black background and contrasting white numbers and letters. This fact indicates that the car has never been re-registered in Russia, which gives it even more historical value. In addition to the license plates, the car has the original documents of that period.

According to experts, the approximate value of this rarity car is an impressive 20 million rubles. Despite its exclusivity and historical significance, since the moment of putting up for sale Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC has not found a new owner. Perhaps this is due to the considerable price, which scares away many potential buyers. However, for true connoisseurs of classic cars and history buffs, this Mercedes is a truly desirable acquisition.
