Honda has officially unveiled the CR-V crossover with an 800 horsepower engine. Only the upper part of the body is from the production crossover, and the lower part is non-standard, made of carbon fiber.
There are no rear doors either - this part of the body tilts back, providing access to the CR-V Hybrid Racer's powertrain and suspension elements. The suspension is represented by elements of the Acura NSX GT-3 Evo22 sports car and Dallara IR-18 chassis.
This heavy-duty CR-V is a hybrid. The setup is powered by a 2.2-liter V6 engine with two Borg Warner turbos. Skeleton supercapacitors are used instead of a traction battery. The unit includes an Empel motor-generator. The transmission is a 6-speed.
The Honda CR-V Hybrid will premiere in America in two days during IndyCar 2023 in Florida.
