Sweden's strategy to contain coronavirus was a failure, says economics professor Lars Kalmfors, who expressed his opinion to Expressen.
The professor spoke at the seminar, where he harshly criticized Sweden's decision to combat the pandemic. According to a new study by the International Monetary Fund, Sweden's economy suffered the same losses as states with tough measures introduced. This gives reason to state that Sweden's strategy to combat COVID-19 did not bring the expected economic effect, but only provoked high mortality.
In 2020, Swedes died 11 times more than, for example, Norwegians. Former Swedbank economist Hubert Fromlet believes that the country's reputation has suffered, which could negatively affect the Swedish economy.
