The Turkish authorities have already issued a corresponding order, which immediately entered into force, reports ERT.

The decision to change the status of the church was made last year. The Turkish State Council declared the assignment of the museum status to the object in 1945 illegal. However, the authorities did not take any action until recently.

The Church of Christ the Savior in the Fields, which is located next to the Choir Monastery, is a World Heritage Site. This is the most preserved Byzantine church to this day. The Russian Orthodox Church expressed dissatisfaction with this decision.
