The skier came fourth in the classic style race. The first place went to the Norwegian athlete Johannes Klebo, who lost only 5.92 seconds to the Russian biathlete.
Second place went to compatriot of the championship winner Erik Valnes, who lost only 0.66 seconds. The third place also went to the Norwegian skier, Hovarld Taugbel, who was 0.8 seconds behind the leader.
Russia's Sergey Ustyugov claimed fifth place, having lost 17.41 seconds.
Russian athletes are not allowed to compete under their country's flag by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The Russians competed in Germany under the name of RSF (Russian Ski Federation).
Alexander Bolshunov won the overall World Cup title early in February. At the time, the Russian was in the lead with 1,613 points.
