According to RIA News, now the Sapsan trains run twice as slowly between the capitals.
On Monday, Oleg Belozerov and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin opened the Khovrino station of the October Railway, which will soon become part of the third Moscow central diameter (MCD-3) and will become a major transport hub.
Belozerov said that a new intermodal station has been opened that will connect the areas of the city and various modes of transport. It will also allow for high-speed traffic between Moscow and St. Petersburg.
"The time of movement along the new diameter MCD-3 - more than an hour, about 2 hours the movement will be from Moscow to St. Petersburg. This "new metro" will appear in Moscow," Belozerov said.
According to RIA News, a high-speed highway is considered a railway along which trains develop speeds from 200 to 400 kilometers per hour. Now there are no such roads in Russia.
In recent years, Russian Railways have planned to make such a road with a Moscow-Kazan message. Its cost was estimated at 1.7 trillion rubles. However, in 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that such a road should be built between Moscow and St. Petersburg.
