NASA reports strange anomaly in Earth's Magnetic Field

The NASA website reports that a giant area is expanding in the sky over South America and southwestern Africa, which provokes a decrease in magnetic intensity. This phenomenon was called the South Atlantic anomaly.

The magnetic field of the planet is a kind of shield reflecting charged particles from the Sun, and the detected anomaly will allow them to approach the Earth closer than usual.

NASA noted that the space agency's satellites and spacecraft are particularly vulnerable to the weakened magnetic field strength within the anomaly, and the resulting exposure to charged particles from the Sun. It can lead to malfunctions of on-board computers, as well as problems in the collection of information by spacecraft.

The cause of the South Atlantic anomaly could be two features of the Earth: the inclination of the axis of the planet and the flow of molten metals inside the outer core.
