Russia has signed a contract with Pakistan for the supply of weapons: anti-tank systems, air defence equipment and small arms. Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, announced this on the sidelines of the international maritime exercise AMAN-2021.
The military officer added that Russia was a good friend of Pakistan, so the development of relations between the two countries within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was possible not only in the military sphere.
The general also recalled that Russia had supplied Pakistan with a batch of Mi-35 attack helicopters in recent years.
The Russian side has not yet officially confirmed the new arrangements.
Moscow and Islamabad signed an agreement on military cooperation in the autumn of 2014. Among other things, Pakistan is interested in buying Russian T-90 tanks.
