Earlier it was reported that on January 9, near a wintering ground in the taiga in the upper reaches of the Butu River of the Vaninsky District, they found the crippled body of a headless hunter, who was most likely attacked by a tiger when he was unarmed.
On the basis of the permission of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Use, measures were taken in this area for more than three weeks to catch and remove the dangerous predator from nature. The tigress was found and shot dead on January 31 near the Mopau weather station when she tried to attack an employee of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Khabarovsk Territory. There are no casualties among people.
Commenting on the aggressive behavior of the predator, the director of the Utes Wild Animal Rehabilitation Center, Eduard Kruglov, suggested that the tigress was hungry, because now there is little food in the taiga. According to him, the tigress could also "hold a grudge" against the person who had previously offended her, but it was not he who could already become the victim of the attack, but any other person.
