In an article published in the journal EClinicalMedicine, they write that the effects of SARS-CoV-2 can be irreparable and lead to inflammation of the kidneys, brain, vessels of the heart, skin, eyes and other organs.
A group of scientists conducted a number of studies in which about 660 children who suffered coronavirus took part, and found out that after SARS-CoV-2 almost all have pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C). This syndrome is very similar to Kawasaki disease that affects coronary and other arteries, inflames vessels and mucous membranes of organs, and forms thromboses.
Experts came to the conclusion that in children, unlike adults, these syndromes manifest themselves more widely and can end in death.
After an experiment in which infected children had been observed in the intensive care unit for eight days, scientists found that small patients did not cope well with coronavirus infection - most had fever, diarrhea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
According to the author of the study, Dr. Alvaro Moreira, 11 children died during the experiment. He called MIS-C "a new childhood disease associated with SARS-CoV-2, as a result of which many organ systems, among which the heart ranks first, refuse to work."
