The South Korean government repaid Iran's debt on contributions to the UN from the country's frozen assets. This was reported on the website of the South Korean Ministry of Strategy and Finance.
Earlier, Tehran was deprived of the right to vote at the organization's General Assembly due to its failure to pay its debt.
To solve this problem, it was decided to withdraw the necessary amount from the Iranian assets frozen in South Korean banks in connection with the US sanctions. In particular, $18 million was withdrawn and transferred to the UN account.
