"Gazprom has suspended the transit of hydrocarbons to Kaliningrad from the territory of Belarus. This was done upon supplier's request," reports Amber Grid, the operator of gas transportation system of Lithuania. The message is published on the official website of the company.
The reasons for gas transit suspension are not specified. So far, the gas supplies from Belarus to Lithuania are stable. The local gas transportation system continues to work as usual.
The contract between Gazprom and Amber Grid has not expired yet. It expires in 2025.
Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian gas transport system operator, Serhiy Makohon, said that gas transit from Russia through Ukraine had decreased. As of the beginning of January 2021, gas supplies dropped to 130 million cubic meters, while in December the Russian side pumped 180 million cubic meters.
