At the same time, according to the BBC, about 17,000 have temporary residence permits. In order to successfully obtain Ukrainian citizenship, they must first physically renounce their Russian passports.

The Russian authorities have made this process more complicated: to do so, they need to hand over their documents either to a Russian consulate abroad or come to Russia.

According to lawyers who work with Russians in Ukraine, their clients are threatened with having their accounts frozen. The National Bank has restricted the provision of financial services for all citizens of Russia and Belarus.

We shall remind you that the father of the singer Charlot explained why his son burned his Russian passport.
