But she noted that the consequences are not as negative as for the EU countries.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Canada Chrystia Freeland, speaking in New Brunswick, told reporters that anti-Russian sanctions have had a negative impact on the Canadian economy.
"Yes, the sanctions regime has consequences and has a negative impact on Canadians," Freeland said.
But "much more seriously" sanctions against Russia, as the head of the Canadian Ministry of Finance noted, have affected the countries of the European Union.
But Ottawa would continue to take a "firm line" and support restrictions against Moscow.
