In China, hundreds of customers occupy Tesla dealerships to protest against the announced discounts. People who have recently bought new cars are protesting because since January 6 the automaker announced a 24% discount.
According to Forbes, people are demanding a refund, but Tesla says it will not compensate them.
Such actions were held in several Tesla stores across the country. In Shanghai, about 200 customers expressed their discontent. Demands for refunds were voiced in Chengdu and Shenzhen cities.
The discounts made Tesla cars in China cheaper than in the United States. The difference goes up to 40 percent. The reduction affected the Model 3 and Y. The discounts were announced due to falling demand in China, which is key for Tesla. Prices for the Model Y start at $37,875 in China and $65,900 in the United States.
