Energy experts have warned Britain of the highest level of "fuel poverty" since 1996. The implication is very high electricity bills that more and more households are unable to pay, the Observer says.

According to the paper, "fuel poverty" has already affected about 4 million homes. And this happened even before the increase in prices on the world market caused the increase in electricity rates in October. And if the government doesn't take measures to prevent record increases in electricity bills, the rise in prices will continue, the publication reports, citing the charity National Energy Action, which addresses the problems of "fuel poverty".

Meanwhile, the National Energy Action warned that because of the next price increase "fuel poverty" compared to last year's figures may affect another 2 million households. As a result, the number of households unable to pay for electricity will "skyrocket" in April.
