Britain's King Charles III is not going to stay on the throne until his death, following his mother's example. Former royal butler Paul Burrell said that in the next 10 years the monarch intends to abdicate in favour of Prince William.
In an interview with the New York Post, Burrell emphasised that at the time of his coronation Charles III did not even think about leaving the throne, but in eight months he "gave up his position" due to deteriorating health. The desire to abdicate was strengthened by the departure of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark in December. The monarch now plans to implement some of his reforms, after which he will retire.
Burrell added that he will then watch his son blossom. The country will receive a new young king and queen.
