Specially Protected Natural Areas (SPNAs) of the Far East and the Arctic will be additionally financed by the Ministry of Natural Resources. On the instructions of President Vladimir Putin, 232 million rubles will be allocated to them as part of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality Industry".
A meeting was held to discuss the state of the tourism industry in the Far East and the Arctic. The meeting was attended by Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of Russia to the Far Eastern Federal District, and Anatoly Razinkin, First Deputy Prosecutor General of the country.
Arctic territories will receive 32 million rubles, and Far Eastern reserves and parks will receive 200 million rubles. Next year the financing will be increased. These funds will be used to open 11 hotels, five visitor centers, organize several eco-trails tens of kilometers long, six sanitary-household zones.
Yuri Trutnev noted the importance of the tourism industry in terms of economic development and the opportunity for Russians to see the country and have a rest. According to him, the Arctic and the Far East have a rich natural potential, tourists can see the best corners of nature: Lake Baikal, the Lena Pillars, the Ussuri taiga.
There are 63 protected areas of federal significance in the Far East. They make up one third of all specially protected natural areas in the country. They have been visited by 62.5 thousand people since the beginning of the year. The number of tourists increased by 63% compared to 2022.
