Biathlete Evgeny Garanichev, who won a bronze medal at the Sochi Olympics, announced the end of his sporting career.
The final competition of his career will be the Russian Biathlon Championships in Tyumen, which will run from March 21 to April 1.
According to Garanichev, after suffering a coronavirus, he encountered health problems and was unable to regain his form. At the same time, the athlete emphasized that he does not plan to completely leave the field of sports, intending to continue his activities in the sports industry, perhaps with a different status.
Garanichev's departure symbolizes the end of a certain stage in the history of Russian biathlon. He was one of the country's leading biathletes in recent years and made a significant contribution to the development of biathlon in Russia.
