Italian tennis player Yannick Cinner defeated Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the final match of the Masters tournament in Miami.
The bout ended 6:3, 6:1 in Cinner's favor, Interfax reported.
Thanks to this victory, Cinner moved up from third to second place in the world ranking; while Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz dropped from second to third place. Serbia's Novak Djokovic remains the leader of the rankings.
Dimitrov moved up from 12th to ninth place after this tournament.
Cinner has already won three tournaments this season, including the Australian Open, one of the Grand Slam tournaments, and has accumulated a total of 13 titles in his career.
There are two Russians among the top-10 tennis players in the rankings: Daniil Medvedev remains in fourth position, while Andrey Rublev is ranked sixth. At the Miami tournament, Medvedev reached the semifinals where he lost to Cinner, while Rublev was knocked out in the first round by Czech tennis player Tomas Machacz.
The Masters Series tournament is the second most important tournament in tennis after the Grand Slam tournaments. The prize fund of the competition in Miami is 8.995 million dollars.
Last year this tournament was won by Daniil Medvedev.
Prior to that, Russian Alexandrova defeated world number one Poleska Swiontek in the 1/8 finals of the Masters.
