In 2023, imports of cars imported for personal use through Vladivostok customs increased one and a half times, according to the state agency. During the period, 226 thousand cars, mostly with engines of 1 to 1.8 litres from Japan and Korea, were imported into the country.
Customs representatives also announced the introduction of a new schedule for the clearance of vehicles of individuals for personal use from 1 February, switching to a seven-day regime, which will reduce the time of the relevant procedures.
It should be noted that since August 9 of the previous year, Japan has banned the import of cars with petrol and diesel engines of 1.9 litres or more, as well as hybrid and electric cars to Russia. Against this background, in July the export of cars in the above direction increased almost one and a half times, while in August it decreased by 57.6 per cent. After that, according to the data of the Ministry of Finance of Japan, there was a subsequent decline.
