The name Twitter no longer fits the social network's business of posting hours-long clips and sharing different kinds of content.
After the social network Twitter was renamed "X", publications in it will be called "Xs". This was revealed by Twitter owner Ilon Musk.
"Publications in Twitter will be called Xs," Musk wrote on his page in the social network.
According to the businessman, the acquisition of Twitter was made in order to support freedom of speech, creating applications for everyone under the name "X".
He also explained that Twitter's name no longer fit the social network's business of posting hours-long clips and sharing different types of content.
More features are expected to be added in the coming months, including the integration of financial features. Musk concluded that it's time to say goodbye to the Twitter name, which no longer makes sense for the new context.
Earlier, the head of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, expressed his approval of the social network's name change.
