Analysts of the project «To be precise» have identified the most dangerous regions of Russia for people's life and health. According to the study, which assessed the environmental situation in various subjects of the country, the biggest problems were identified in the Astrakhan, Irkutsk and Kurgan regions, as well as in several other regions.
Analysts assessed the level of soil, water and air pollution, as well as the efficiency of waste management, Kommersant reports. Moscow, Rostov, Chelyabinsk Regions, Buryatia, Khakassia, Krasnoyarsk Territory and Trans-Baikal Territory were also among the regions with unfavorable environmental situation. While Adygea, Mari El, Penza and Orel Regions were recognized as the most environmentally friendly.
The study also emphasized that more than 52 million urban residents of Russia, which is at least 49% of the country's urban population, live in places with high levels of air pollution, and one in nine people in the country lacks access to clean water. These factors have a negative impact on life expectancy. Another concern is the growing amount of waste, exceeding nine billion tons in 2022 alone (6.7% more than in 2021).
Earlier, the RKN named the number of foreign providers who applied for inclusion in the registry, as well as in Belgorod announced a missile danger regime.
