American Airlines has launched an annual campaign to raise funds for cancer research and invited AAdvantage loyalty program members to participate in the initiative.
The airline is partnering with Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), a nonprofit organization dedicated to innovative research to fight all types of cancer.
Those who donate more than $25 will receive 25 bonus American Airlines miles for every dollar donated. An additional promotion has been offered by Mastercard: those who donate online with the American Airlines AAdvantage Mastercard will receive 50 bonus miles for every dollar donated.
The campaign will run through September 30 or until the total goal of three million dollars is reached.
Since 2016, when American Airlines launched the campaign, the company has raised nearly $18 million to benefit the nonprofit's work.
In 2019, the carrier gave donors the opportunity to write the name of a loved one they lost to cancer aboard an Airbus A321.
