In 2021, Russian citizens were actively buying property in Turkey. Almost 5.4 thousand properties were purchased over the entire past year.
As reported by RBK Group with reference to the data of the Turkish Institute of Statistics, this figure is 75% higher than the sales to Russian customers for the entire year of 2020. Russians ranked third among foreigners according to this indicator.
First place was taken by the citizens of Iraq, who bought 10 thousand housing units. Second place went to citizens of Iran, who bought 8.7 thousand properties in Turkey.
Development Director of real estate agency Tolerance Sergei Volchenkov said that Russian citizens took advantage of the fall of the Turkish lira, which occurred at the end of 2021. The highest buying activity was in November and December last year.
Most often real estate was bought in Antalya and Alanya, but the popularity of gaining the Turkish city of Mersin. A total of 59.3 thousand properties were sold in Turkey in 2021, which is 44% more than a year earlier.
