61% of Russians admitted that they are distracted by other things at work. 39% of respondents noted that they do not do extraneous things during working hours.
Rabota.ru and SberZdorovye conducted a study and found that the most common distraction was communication with colleagues - 44% of respondents. Personal calls and correspondence (33%), reading the news (27%), social networks (17%) and smoke breaks (15%) were at the top.
According to SberZdorovye psychotherapist Viktor Nurdaev, withdrawal from responsibilities can be indicative of difficulties at work. When an employee is faced with a boring or cumbersome task, he may start putting it off for later. It is often the case that a person may feel insecure about a task because of low self-esteem or increased anxiety.
The study found that respondents most often spend up to 30 minutes (43%) on extraneous tasks. 37% said they take 30 minutes to an hour away from work tasks. One to three hours of work time is spent on extraneous tasks by 13% of survey participants.
According to 66% of respondents, procrastination has no effect on their work schedule. Only 17% admitted that they are delayed at work, 12% are forced to start work earlier. 5% of respondents work on weekends.
