Such amendments are being prepared in the Russian State Duma.
On February 7, the State Duma plans to consider amendments to the law "On Education in the Russian Federation," which propose adding a term of conscript service in the army as a special achievement, giving additional points for admission to a university or college.
Earlier, the Duma committees on education and on science and higher education had already recommended that the bill be passed.
According to the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper, Olga Kazakova, head of the Duma's education committee, applicants who have served in the army will be awarded extra points for admission to universities, and admission committees at colleges or technical schools will be required to count military service as part of the admission procedure.
