After the Grammy Awards ceremony, rapper Killer Mike, whose real name is Michael Santiago Render, found himself the centre of police attention. After receiving three awards, the artiste was led out of the room in handcuffs, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Chris Gardner in his X account.
A journalist published a video of the rapper's detention, claiming that the detention was due to a minor offence and "he will probably be released as soon as everything is resolved". Police later confirmed that the man was detained for fighting at the ceremony and is currently under questioning. Details of the arrest and the name of the detainee were not provided by law enforcement.
At the Grammy ceremony, Killer Mike received awards in the categories of best rap song and best rap performance for the composition "Scientists & Engineers", as well as for the best rap album "Michael". As a reminder, he was also honoured with a Grammy Award in 2003 for the song "OutKast The Whole World".
In other categories, the Grammy for Best Song of the Year went to Billie Eilish for the soundtrack to the Barbie film, "What Was I Made For?". In the category "Best Album of the Year" won Taylor Swift with "Midnights", becoming the first artist to win this prestigious award four times.
