Scientists in China have created a laser that can be used to write visible symbols in the air. This was reported by the South China Morning Post.
The created pen is capable of "writing in the air" - leaving symbols that can be seen by human eyes.
The innovative device works thanks to ultra-short laser pulses. During the process, electrons are separated from air particles and converted into light-emitting plasma with sufficient accuracy. The device consumes relatively little energy.
"With the new device, we can draw in the air without using paper or ink," concluded Cao Xiangdong, a lead researcher at the lab.
The pen intends to be used in cutting-edge industries - quantum computing, the process of brain imaging.
