Cockroaches are known for their ability to survive conditions in which most insects die. As it turned out, they have had this ability since ancient times.

Thus, they managed to survive even after the fall of a meteorite to Earth 66 million years ago, which caused the extinction of dinosaurs and almost all life on the planet, writes The Conversation.

According to scientists, they managed to survive due to their flat shape and ability to cram into the crevices. With food these insects also had no problems, because they are scavengers, so they could eat other animals, which were not able to cope with the extreme conditions of survival.

The offspring of cockroaches were also protected, as they lay them in sturdy capsules that reliably protect future offspring from various environmental risks.
