Tropical cyclones are one of the most dangerous types of natural disasters.
Scientists at the University of Hong Kong, China, have studied changes in the destructive power of tropical cyclones over eastern and southeastern Asia between 1979 and 2016 and found that the inland impact of the elements on the study regions has increased significantly over the past 40 years.
The researchers predict that by the end of the 21st century, the destructive power of Western North Pacific tropical cyclones over inland regions could double. The scientists' work, published in Frontiers in Earth Science.
