It is also planned to organize an industrial zone.
Unused territory of the former Toyota plant in St. Petersburg may be included in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) "St. Petersburg", TASS reports referring to the chairman of the city's Committee on Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade Kirill Soloveitchik.
According to him, it is planned to give a part of the unused area to the SEZ, while the other part will be used as an industrial zone. Thus, the land plots, formerly owned by Toyota Plant, can be effectively used for the development of economic activity in the region.
The former Toyota plant occupies a vast area of 224 hectares. As previously reported, in March it was transferred to the state and became the property of FSUE NAMI. It is planned that by the end of 2023 the management of the plant may be taken over by the Almaz-Antey All-Russian Defence Concern.
The plans for 2024 include the launch of production of BAZ-S36A11 trucks for civilian use and electric microcars. In addition, production of E-Neva electric cars is planned to start in 2026.
