The U.S. State Department sees the PRC as a rival that can change the existing world order.
Washington sees Beijing as its only rival, planning to change the existing world order and increasing economic, diplomatic, military and technological power to achieve this goal, said Vedant Patel, deputy State Department spokesman.
"The PRC is our only rival that is simultaneously intent on changing the international order and increasing economic, diplomatic, military and technological power to succeed in (achieving) that goal," Patel stressed.
Earlier, Wendy Sherman, deputy foreign policy chief of the United States, promised that Washington will continue to maintain open lines of communication with Beijing and will develop bilateral relations in the coming year, which are based on the meeting of the two leaders in Bali in 2022. She noted that the U.S. and the PRC must work together for the good of all humanity.
