A historic event took place on the Ukrainian-Russian border - the first exchange of letters and parcels for prisoners.
Military correspondent Alexander Kots confirmed this information and published photos from the exchange site, which showed the presence of the International Committee of the Red Cross. The Russian presidential human rights ombudsman, Tatyana Moskalkova, also confirmed the exchange in her Telegram channel.
The exchange of letters and parcels was carried out by mutual agreement with the Ukrainian Parliament's Commissioner for Human Rights Lubinets on the Ukrainian-Russian border with the participation of the relevant bodies. This humanitarian exchange concerned transfers by relatives for Russian prisoners of war on Ukrainian territory and for Ukrainian servicemen detained on Russian territory.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin expressed Russia's readiness to exchange prisoners of war with Ukraine with the participation of the International Committee of the Red Cross. He also noted that consultations on this issue were being actively held. This event has become part of efforts to resolve humanitarian problems in the regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, and Moscow supports interaction with the organization in this direction.
