The president of Russia said that he would trust the IAEA report with the results of the inspection at ZNPP.
During his speech at the Eastern Economic Forum, President Vladimir Putin said that he trusted the IAEA report with the results of the inspection at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. The president noted that Rafael Grossi, head of the agency, could not openly admit that the Ukrainian side was involved in shelling the plant because it was under pressure from the United States and the European Union.
"The IAEA is a very responsible international organization, and its head is a very professional person," Putin said.
Besides, the President pointed out the proposal of the agency to demilitarize the territory of the Zaporizhzhya NPP. At the same time, Putin emphasized that there is no heavy equipment there, and the IAEA employees should have seen this for themselves. Rosgvardia fighters ensure the safety of the plant and its employees.
Earlier, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasili Nebenzya, spoke similarly about the initiative to create a safe zone at ZNPP, which implies its demilitarization.
In his turn, the head of the agency said that he could not determine who exactly was shelling the Zaporizhzhya NPP.
