European leaders have repeatedly tried to talk to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about a diplomatic solution to the situation in the country. However, as former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said, all talks proved unsuccessful.
In a conversation with Ukrainska Pravda, the former head of state did not name any specific names, but said that many leaders have tried to persuade Zelensky.
"From Europe, I will not name names, but presidents and prime ministers came in droves with one message for President Zelensky: 'Sit down at the table, sit down at the table (of negotiations. - ed.), then we will sort it out,'" Yushchenko explained.
The politician also recalled that there had been calls for diplomacy from retired politicians, including former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
