A ruling by Moscow's Preobrazhensky Court is expected to put an end to the case of former Open Government Minister Mikhail Abyzov, accused by the authorities of fraud and organizing a criminal association (OCG).
According to RIA Novosti, the court retired to the deliberation room. The announcement of the verdict is scheduled for next Thursday, December 21, at 14:00 Moscow time, the judge specified.
Recall that Abyzov worked as Minister for the coordination of the functioning of the Open Government from May 2012 to May 2018. Since March 2019 (date of detention), the former member of the government is in the pre-trial detention center
According to the materials of the criminal case, the OCG under the leadership of the defendant committed embezzlement of funds from the energy companies "Sibeko" and RPP in the amount of 4 billion rubles. In parallel, the defendant and his accomplices conducted illegal business activities and received income in the amount of 32.5 billion rubles, as well as practiced commercial bribery, money laundering and other illegal assets. The statement of claim of the Prosecutor's office led to the payment of 32.5 billion rubles in the income of the state, which Abyzov transferred from the accounts of Cypriot companies.
Earlier it became known that in Chelyabinsk an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is suspected of organizing reimbursable assistance to foreign illegal immigrants.
